These people simply ignored the accepted rules on newgroup creation. They apparently feel they have some kind of authority to mandate the shape and direction of the net. So now, those of us that prefer to have an unmoderated sources group (probably the majority of net.sources users) will have to follow the wishes of this forceful few or take steps to overcome their attacks. The easiest approach is to post directly to this group (comp.sources.misc) by adding a line like this: Approved: self-moderated to the header of the article with your editor (just like this article). The concerns of the pro-moderation faction about non-sources being posted to the sources groups don't seem unreasonable (though their approach to eliminating them certainly does).
