I'm posting this for a musician friend of mine...

Can somebody out there e-mail me some technical info on the MIDI interface
standard, or at least tell me where to look?  Is it a standard, and whose?
What is the hardware protocol? software?  I don't personally know anything
about MIDI because I never needed too.  A somewhat technically oriented 
friend of mine just bought a MIDI keyboard (Roland, I think) and wants to 
find out what makes it tick.
