In reference to repairing a lightning fried parallel printer board. I had a similar experience a few years back. I changed all of the chips on the board (8 of 'em) for about $5 the ROM was in good shape. The board is still running without a hitch. If the board has socketed chips you can easily do this. Just write down the numbers and get them at a local parts house. If the board has programable chips like PALs and ROMs, you may have to get them from the manufacturer, if they are bad. Try changing the regular TTL stuff first. If the chips are soldered in, as most are these days, see what the manufacturer charges for repairs. Unless you are very good with a solering iron, you may be better off to trash the board and buy a new one for $50. Rick Fincher ranger@ecsvax
