It seems all that would be needed would be >to load a new font, reset the old pointers (via linea), and Ptrmres(). > Yes! A friend of mine wrote up just exactly what you asked for with the additional feature that you could auto folder load an alternate character set. His program works only with Degas .FNT files for fonts and allows you to specify fewer scan-lines per character if you wished which allows using alternate 50/40/etc line character fonts and the version of Emacs we hacked allows using the extended lines for editing. (Using a Courier font to edit C code looks almost exactly like the font used in K&R... :) I'll ask him for permission to post to the net. If you're in a hurry you could check CI$ in ataridev or atari16 for FONTLOAD.ARC which contains a slightly older, but functional version. Let me know if you want it. If I get enough interest, I'll post it to comp.sys.atari.st.... There is also a desk accessory called FONTTRIX which changes the default character set for all applications (fontload only changes the character set for TOS/TTP applications) but I've only seen it used, I have no idea who wrote it, if it's PD or anything else about it.... --- John Stanley (john@viper.UUCP) Software Consultant - DynaSoft Systems UUCP: ...{amdahl,ihnp4,rutgers}!{meccts,dayton}!viper!john
