("Full line of AT&T 3B1 computers at similar discounts.") Their quotes are: RAM (MB) Hard Disk (MB) Price ($) 1 40 1250 2 40 1395 2 67 1550 None of these include the UNIX Operating System, which they are selling for $210, nor the UNIX Utilities. (I did not ask for a price on the latter.) First, some clarification of terms for the sake of some newsgroups. The 3B1 Computer is nothing more and nothing less than a UNIX PC, expanded with more RAM and a larger, much faster hard disk drive. The UNIX PC 7300, with 1 MB of RAM and 20 MB hard disk, Elek-Tek is selling for $785, again not including the UNIX Operating System. Now for some enthusiasm: The largest size in particular is an amazing deal! The machine has a Motorola 68010 microprocessor running at 10 MHz (considerably faster than an 80286, I'm told); its implementation of UNIX System V Release 2 is reportedly speedy, pretty complete, and paged; and the disk has a 28-msec access time. 2 megabytes of RAM gives large programs plenty of elbow room, and 67 megabytes of disk should satisfy even a packrat like me. All for $1760! I myself have already ordered the largest-size machine at a similar price from an AT&T Value-Added Reseller in Aurora, IL.
