I agree.  There are even some times when machine readable
release notes are completely useless.  Fer example...

We just bought an 8700 with a gob of DECservers and no
RS-232 ports.  Step two of the DECserve installation
instructions (right after load the tape) tells you to print
and read the release notes.

Now how in the hell are you going to do that if you have not
installed your DECservers and therefore don't have anywhere
to connect your printer?!
