In his home at the time of the fire he had a PC/AT and a PC clone. Both appear not to be heat damaged - but from the look of things they got in the way of a fair amount of smoke. He would like to retrieve the data on both machines' hard disks and return both machines to working condition (if they're indeed damaged). Does anyone have any experiences with possibly fire damaged PCs? Are there pitfalls to be avoided or can one just boot the machines and see how bad the situation is? Any advice would be appreciated. -Kim Korner
