Message-ID: <858@aluxz.UUCP> Date: Wed, 24-Jun-87 16:40:51 EDT Article-I.D.: aluxz.858 Posted: Wed Jun 24 16:40:51 1987 Date-Received: Fri, 26-Jun-87 07:08:38 EDT Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ Lines: 16 As a new MacIntosh owner, and a relatively recent follower of this newsgroup, I'd like some information on software utilities and desk accessories people have found useful/indispensable. What are the essentials for any competent Mac owner and what is the best source for getting copies (UGs, BBSs, distributors, etc.?). Some of the things I have in mind are: text editors, hard disk file utilities, binary file "patchers", disassemblers, print spoolers, RAM disks, backup and archiving programs, calendar/appointment book, etc. I'd prefer public domain or shareware programs, but would consider commercially distributed products if their functionality warrants the extra money. Please e-mail me your responses, and if there is enough response, I'll attempt to summarize to the network. Thanks! Kurt Marko {ihnp4,ulysses,...}!aluxz!krm
