I have received the new version of dvi2ps from Piet van Oostrum.
It uses the more compact .pk font files instead of .pxl files.
The material he sent me includes .tfm files for the laserwriter
builtin fonts.

I haven't tested this yet, but I have made it available for
anonymous ftp on oddjob.uchicago.edu in file pub/dvi2ps.pk.tar.Z.
