Lines: 24 I've had trouble doing remote dumps from one SUN fileserver to another. We have two of them: a 3/180 and a 3/280. The 3/180 has a 1/4 inch cartridge tape drive and the 3/280 has a 1/2 inch tape drive. If I try to do a remote level 0 dump from the 3/180 to the 3/280 (doing it on the cartridge tapes is a real hassle) with, for example, the following command: dump 0ufdb betty:/dev/rmt8 6250 126 /dev/rxy0d it seems to work fine (betty is the name of the 3/280). BUT when I try to restore, I get "tape is not a dump tape". anyone had any luck with this, or suggestions for any better methods? thanks in advance. -Joanne -- joanne mannarino seismo!philabs!jmr philips laboratories or (914)945-6008 jmr@philabs.philips.com
