I've gotten the number wrong twice, cancelled the transaction (knowing that 
a third screw-up would cause the card to be 'eaten'), and went to a different 
bank (Note: completely different, not just different branch.). Put card in 
second machine, messed up again (ONCE), and poof! Card was consumed!

Moral: It won't work unless the banks are incredibly stupid where you are;
the 'eat' function is controlled by the home bank of the card, not the ATM!
