I tried mailing this reply but it got bounced all the way from cbosgd!moss!ptsfa!beta with the message "Forwarding to this system disallowed". So here's a posting to waste everyone's bandwidth. BTW, I've noticed that the vn interface doesn't allow you to specify a distribution, so I guess this goes worldwide. Too bad. We won't migrate to 2.0 for a couple of weeks yet, but Ultrix 1.2 on our VAX 750 has an /etc/acucap file in which automatic call units (or dial out modems when they are integrated) are described. I believe the distributed acucap with 1.2 had an entry for Hayes. Tip and UUCP both use the acucap under Ultrix 1.2. I've pretty much ignored the uucpsetup scripts, as well as most of the other system administration scripts on all of our machines; at the most I use the scripts to set up a template of what I want, and then I hand edit the files in question to get what I really need. Anyway, I've included some of our acucap for your entertainment and delight. We've been using this acucap for months with no trouble. You had better have modem control enabled on the serial lines in question and the proper cables installed, because the generic dialing code looks for DTR rising and falling, so you'll get poor results if DTR is tied high or low or left hanging. hayes|h1200|smartmodem|Hayes smartmodem 1200 (touch tone):\ :ls:cr:hu:re:rs=,:\ :fd#60:\ :sd#500000:ss=+++ATZ\r:sr=OK:\ :dd#100000:di=ATF1L3TD:dt=\r:\ :os=CONNECT: mt224n|Multitech MT224ER modem in non-MNP mode:\ :ls:cr:hu:re:rs=,:\ :fd#60:\ :sd#500000:ss=+++ATZ\r:sr=OK:\ :dd#100000:di=AT&E0&E10X0M1F1L3TD:dt=\r:\ :os=CONNECT: microcom|m2400|Microcom SX2400 modem in non-MNP mode:\ :ls:cr:hu:re:rs=,:\ :fd#180:sd#500000:dd#500000:\ :ss=INIT\rY\r\r\r\r\r:\ :sr=ARE YOU SURE?
