CS Dept. Ithaca NY Lines: 30 We are running 4.2+NFS version 3.0 from Brown University, with X-windows, and we have been seeing the following problem: To cause: Compile GNUemacs version 18.47 from scratch, with m-ibmrt.h and s-bsd4-2.h. To demonstrate: run xemacs, and try M-x describe-function file-w This will fail. M-x describe-function file-r succeeds. Emacs is not defsubr-ing file-writable-p correctly, apparently. Workaround: swap the places of the DEFUN for file-writable-p and file-readable-p in fileio.c, and the problem goes away. Weird! Anybody out there have any ideas? --chet-- --chet-- In Real Life: Chet Murthy ARPA: murthy@svax.cs.cornell.edu SnailMail: Chet Murthy Gaslight Village Apts 21-B Uptown Road Ithaca, NY 14850 Office: 4162 Upson (607) 255-2219 MaBellNet: (607)-257-5709
