In general, face icons should be obtained from a face server based on the host!user name, not sent with every message. I'm trying to build up our local collection of face icons and will make them available as part of my redistribution of the AT&T DMD software, perhaps along with mods to sysmon to turn it into vismon. The idea is that most sites would be better off with a modest face database than trying to use a face server, although there should be at least one central site willing to send out faces on request so people can fill in the gaps as necessary. (No need to have faces for people you never get mail from.) If you want to send me your 48x48x1 Blit/DMD/MTG-compatible face icon to add to our face database, I'll be happy to receive it and make it available to others on request. (Please don't mail me megabytes of face data, though!) Include the associated host or domain name and user name. I haven't decided yet whether to try to maintain a domain-based face server. That is really something the NIC should be doing.
