Message-ID: <8708051432.AA19462@ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU> Date: Tue, 4-Aug-87 17:21:00 EDT Article-I.D.: ucbvax.8708051432.AA19462 Posted: Tue Aug 4 17:21:00 1987 Date-Received: Sat, 8-Aug-87 01:34:18 EDT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Distribution: world Organization: The ARPA Internet Lines: 18 I wonder if this is a bug in VMS/MAIL: I was in the middle of COMPRESSing my mail file when I received new mail. After the COMPRESS finished, I tried doing a READ/NEW to read the message, but the message had disappeared; I figured the message may be in the MAIL.OLD file and did a SET FILE MAIL.OLD, followed by SELECT NEWMAIL and READ. Sure enough, the message was there. In my opinion, the new message should have been copied to the new MAIL.MAI file rather than being stashed away in MAIL.OLD -- am I wrong? Has anybody else experienced this problem? -------------------------------- Rahul Mangaldas (rmangaldas@clarku.bitnet) Box 1311, Clark University 950 Main Street Worcester, MA 01610-1477
