They use IBM resident software to talk at channel speeds to a PDP11 router so that RSX DECnet is the router one sees. However the IBM side can both create and receive DECnet connections. There is a VM version and an MVS version. Note: IBM's notion of security seems much less comprehensive than one is used to in VMS; some care in allowing access via the IBM is needed to avoid creating security holes.
