It is because the current KIP code responds only to DDP Zip Queries, not to the ATP Get[myzone, zonelist]. Any ATP packets to the ZIS socket (6) in the KIP gateway are currently identified and dropped. Thus, Chooser asks a few times for the name of the current zone, then when that fails it tries GetZoneList a couple of times. After that (and it seems like a long time to the user) Chooser gives up. Has anyone else written the ZIP stub needed to return the zone name from the KIP config info ? (I know Bill Croft may be doing this now.) Also, I believe this is why AppleShare is not happy about writing an "AppleShare Prep" file when running on a net with a KIP gateway. Rob
