Ncoast turned out to be one of them; as a result, the copy I posted turns out to be bogus. There is, however, light at the end of the tunnel. I got a letter from Phil Katz; he is in the process of finishing a machine-independent PKARC and PKXARC targeted initially for the Amiga and for UNIX, written in C.
