   I have come across the need to do dynamic memory allocation on a fixed 
block of memory (using shared ram).  If someone has an implementation of 
malloc () and free () that will work on a specific memory block (ie. shmalloc)
I would be very interested.  Our configuration is a MicroVAX running 
Ultrix 2.0.  This work will help bring the 1988 Olympics to your TV screen!
