Lines: 41 Keywords: Bach, Imagen, SMUT We are thinking about developing a package to print music on our Imagen laserprinter. Has anyone done any development on such a project that will take a textfile and convert it into something suitable for output on a laserprinter? Our goal is to produce a program which can print parts as well as a complete score for a piece of music. I heard about this originally in the book "Metamagical Themas" by Douglas R. Hofstadter, in which Dr. Donald Byrd had used a program called "SMUT" to print some of the music found in the book. I called Dr. Byrd at Indiana University, but found that he had left the University to start his own company. If anyone has any idea where I might get ahold of Dr. Byrd, I would be very interested. Thanks for any information -- please mail responses to me, rather than posting to this newsgroup. If there is a lot of interest, I will post a summary of what I find out to this newsgroup.
