Evidently, Apple is going to make a "major announcement" of sorts on August 1, 1987. It is supposed to be about the VGC upgrade, but could include other nifty stuff. Also, I believe all machines shipped after about sometime in May had the new VGC chips, but apple had to ramp up production on current gs's before they could replace them in current models. Also, it's been rumored (don't we just love 'em, especially when they are true?) that also on August 1, Apple will begin shipping apple IIgs's with Version 2.0 ROMS... they are supposed to have most, if not all of the bugs in the current toolsets fixed (finally), and also have some of the ram based sets (ie, menu manager, etc) in ROM... I hope this is true... we're overdue for some new good news... Andy
