Kennedy Jr. & Associates, Pipe Creek, TX Lines: 13 Xref: utgpu junk:5607 comp.sys.att:820 I have been working on an installable device driver for the PLUS. The last time I tried to test it I managed to scribble all over the super block and scrubbed the hard disk. No complaint, it was my stupid mistake. What has really been a nuisance is generating a kernel that is badly busted and having to go back to the distribution kernel and build it back up with what I have that *does* work. Today I ran across the simplest solution. Copy your distribution diskette 1 of 7 to a blank. Now mount the blank as /mnt and cp /unix /mnt/unixWINI. Then if you have to recover you can just boot from the copy you just made, mount 0s0 as /mnt and cp unixWINI /mnt/unix. Sorry if I bored those of you that already knew that but it sure saved me a lot of time. -- Bill Kennedy {cbosgd | ihnp4!petro | sun!texsun!rrm}!ssbn!bill
