I looked through his manuals and it looks like a simple procedure, with one exception -- looks like Ultrix doesn't support non-DEC modems. This seems unlikely -- my theory was that one of the DEC modems uucpsetup seems to know about is probably a Hayes-compatible, and all I have to do is to find out the DEC part number which corresponds to "Hayes-compatible" and everything will be fine. Unfortunately, he has no idea what kind of modems DEC has and seems to be having trouble getting any support from DEC for his uVax. Can anybody help? What do I tell uucpsetup to make it work with a Hayes-compatible? (It's a uVax II running Ultrix 2.0-1, if that makes any difference. I haven't seen the modems but they're probably USR Courier 2400's -- any comments regarding problems installing 2400 baud modems might also be helpful, though I suspect he'd be happy with 1200 baud for a while.) Thanks in advance -- any help would be much appreciated. .. ...Akkana Center for Nonlinear Studies, LANL akkana%infidel@lanl.gov hp@lanl.gov ihnp4!lanl!hp "I think I'll take a walk.
