I was just looking through the August issue of "Dr. Dobb's Journal" and 
on p. 122 there is a discussion of translating BASIC to C (in this
case MS-BASIC(tm) to MS-C 4.0(tm) using a program called BASTOC from
JMI Software (PO Box 481, Spring House, PA  19477.)  

You may wish to peruse the article and their feelings about the
process.
