Certainly, the 680X0 parts have a much nicer instruction set than the 80X86 parts. Yes, the 8X87 math chips may well have an edge on the Motorola equivalents. Well, so what? Both chips are being used in a lot of systems, both chips have nifty software available for them, both chips are doing USEFUL WORK! Flaming about which chip is better, especially after the fact, strikes me as one of the biggest wastes of time and energy I know of. Like it or not, IBM is using Intel, and that represents a whole lot of computers in the world. Apple, et. al, are using Motorola, and that also represents a whole lot of computers out there. As for me, I'll program either one. I don't care, it all brings in income and produces working programs. -- ---------------- "... if the church put in half the time on covetousness Mike Farren that it does on lust, this would be a better world ..." hoptoad!farren Garrison Keillor, "Lake Wobegon Days"
