Sir, if you are really serious when you say that you don't care to have
anything fancy, you might look into the UNIX-hosted p-System FORTRAN compiler
offered by  Pecan Software SYstems, Inc., 1410  39th St., Brooklyn, NY 11218,
718/851-3100.   
The run-of-the-mill versions of this cost around $100 or so; perhaps it would
run on your system (although not with blazing speed).
