Can anyone make any recommendations for 512K upgrades for the CoCo3? What kind of chips should I look for? Does it make any difference? What different types of boards do they come on? Any special questions I should ask when I place an order? Thanks for the help. In other news, I am coming to you from my CoCo using Cer-comps' DatapackIII+. So far, I am very pleased with the performance of this software. Documentation is very complete, only a couple of typos. One thing I would like to see is a quick reference quide showing all the commands and keystrokes. The software is copy protected so when you get the disk, you make a backup of it, but cannot use the backup. You use the original disk and if you have problems, backup the original from the copy. One of the nice features of DatapackIII is the Autoexecute file that gets entered when you initially boot up. This file allows you to define system parameters such as screen color, terminal mode, baud rate, printer rate, etc. If you use the RS232 program pack in a multipak interface, you can make disk saves, or print files with two keystroke ease. One of the most improtant reasons I chose this package was the vt100/52 emulation. Our Netnews runs on an Amdahl. To edit any files, I need to be able to run VI. In VT 52 mode, I can edit with ease! One flaw I did notice was the lack of documentation on how to use the 512K as 2 RAMdisks. In the advertisement, they say you can have two RAMdisks. However, nowhere in the docs do they mention anything about RAMdiskds. I called Cer-Comp about this and they said that I should use them as drives 2 and 3. I guess I won't find out until I get my upgrade. Well happy byteing!!
