Yes, Open MacWrite (4.5?) and then enter Macsbug, and DM 984 (apFontID).
It will be set to 0003 (Geneva).  Try SM 984 0004 (Monaco) to get a 
monospaced font. Any TextOnly documents you subsequently Open will be
displayed in monaco font.

I am assuming you have Macsbug, but the built-in mini-debugger is good
enough for this job.
