I have been using Adobe Illustrator to do all of the above since January.  It
is a very powerful drawing program and it's output is postscript.  I do
professional illustration and earned back it's heafty price in no time at all.
Its one weakness is text handling.  No fancy outlined fonts or superscripts
directly.  But, you can create all of those, and more, effects with ease with
the many things that you can do to the text (rotation, skewing, coloring, etc.)
