We use Ubackup here where we work and we are very pleased with it. The biggest problem we have had with it is the documentation (which has been re-written for the next release I've been told). As to the tape format, Ubackup will use *either* tar or cpio. You can change the format with a simple change to a config file. You can also specify the blocking factor to increase tar performance if your drive can use large tape blocks. We use a blocking factor of 126 and it cut our backups to about half the time (TK50's on MicroVAXen...SLOW!). -- David Schmidt UUCP: davids@iscuva.ISCS.COM ISC Systems Corporation (seismo!uunet!iscuva!davids) East 22425 Appleway Phone: +1 509 927-5479 Liberty Lake, WA 99019
