Boy, talk about a name from the dim past. The Bendix G-15 was the first computer I got my hands on. The beast was a bit larger than a file cabinet and was packed with vacumn tubes. As I recall, the main memory was a magnetic drum (no ferrite core memory) and programs were written to take into account the rotation of the drum for fetching data and/or next instruction. The machine would go bonkers if the ambient temperature got much over 80F. My next major experience was with an IBM 1620. I believe that was a much better known machine.
