"(Its available via anonymous > ftp to e.ms.uky.edu, though)" Of course foul ups like this are to be expected (don't worry, just a cheap shot I couldn't resist before getting to the main topic). >... Which brings me to comp.sources.wanted, et. al. Do YOU read this? Sure, of the (cd ; fgrep : .newsrc | wc) 399 groups whose subject lines I read in vnews, it is number 18 (I find the topic of sources interesting, what can I say?). > I doubt it... I "do", but I read it with my finger very close to the space > bar... I might have responded to a total of 2 requests... It is not that > I am not a good sport, and don't want to help people, it is just that > I (like many) am busy, and thus having advance knowledge that > comp.sources.wanted does not contain "goodies" for me, I skip through. Actually the problem is that the scope of the group is too narrow. I propose deleting it and creating: comp.sources.projects: an unmoderated group dedicated to messages concerning the following aspects of producing software for donation: a) announcement of interest in finding software for particular tasks b) announcement of commencement of new pd software projects c) requests for bug reports in anticipation of new release d) announcement of availability of alpha quality software e) queries about interest in group programming projects over the net. Such a group would subsume comp.sources.wanted and at the same time be interesting enough that the software requests would get a broader hearing.
