    The system tektronix (gateway to the company) will be down Friday
August 14 while it undergoes a metamorphysis from a VAX 11/750 to a VAX
11/780.  It will be down most of the day (and possibly longer) and mail
and news will be interrupted.  I would appreciate your patience during
this period and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
