Actually, this is not "easier access" but "easy access at a lower price".
The micro people have rediscovered what some of us had with minicomputers
15 years ago, and some of the mainframe people had still earlier.  Walking
up to the computer, sitting down, and starting work has always been possible,
if your employer was willing to pay enough.
