As far as I know there is only one product around which give you the connection at this time. It is the backend-database system TERADATA, which is channel-attach to the IBM and has a TCP/IP connection out of their own machinery to UNIX. Since you have to buy soft- and hardware for this connection, you must spend at least spend 300.000 $ for it. The other manufacturers still have problems to support a common set of protocols to connect the two machines in the necessary functionality. But I suppose that in a year ....
