I once followed the advice that this personnel director gave. I was stuck in a job which I was unqualified for and which I loathed for two years. In my next job interview, I did something similar. I only lasted three months at a job where I was "the wrong person at the wrong time." This time around, I told the person interviewing me what I really was looking for -- what I liked, what I disliked -- whether he wanted to hear those particular responses or not. I got the job, and I'm still here after 5 months and don't appear to be going away.
