I'm not asking FSF to do it; I am asking that they not take the attitude of
"286? Phooey!". If someone out there wants to take the GNU system stuff and
make it work on ATs, then why not help them out?

Kinda hard for me to do, since my only Unix access is on my personal PC/AT.
(Quite aside from my lack of experience of Unix-stuff...after all, I don't
consider myself to be a Unix guru by any means [see the .signature]).

After all, a fully-developed GNU is BOUND to be less buggy than Microport...
