I know of quite a few other people who have personal computers with dpvm. IBM-PCs are toys. Memory management is a must for Unix, to keep one process from tromping on the memory of another process. What does Minix do about this? I assume the 386 machines have all the required goodies? Like someone posted that RMS said: by the time GNU is ready, many/most machine will have the power GNU needs. On the other hand, keeping things as small as is *reasonable* is a virtue. I normally run jove rather than GNUmacs because it starts up faster.
