In response to your friends son who is going to college, as to wether he 
should get a Mac or an MS-DOS clone.  The answer really
lies with the college.  Check and see what they require if anything.  If
the option is open I would stronly recommend the MAC.  He will spend
less time trying to figure out what to do and more time doing it.
