(Also, it's easier to post one message then send a zillion letters). So, here's all the helpful people in NetLand who sent me letters. BTW I finally got my modem to work. The problem was my cheap Hong Kong super serial card clone. They made the cable going from the card to the rs232 interface backwards, so I just turned it upside-down and it worked.
