Well, that's it then. You are fortunate to have *real* intelligent modems, whereas those of us with Hayes compatibles have just smart-ass modems. They don't have the sense to toggle CD when carrier goes away when it is set hi by switch or command. More than likely, that is the reason others have no problem with their systems on dial-in/out.
