Xref: mnetor comp.unix.xenix:661 comp.sys.ibm.pc:7358 My brother works with a surveying company. They use several bits of CAD software to do their drafting. Because accuracy of the maps is absolutely critical, they use a very-high-resolution graphics display. Most of this software, and the device driver for the display, are only available in MS-DOS versions. He would like to move to Xenix, but they can't abandon the development already done in the MS-DOS environment. I know there are software packages that allow DOS programs to be run under Xenix, but I don't know how good they are. I would like to find out: 1. How do these programs handle terminate-and-stay-resident programs? How do they run custom device drivers? Do these programs actually load a DOS image, or do they simulate DOS? 2. If the DOS program wants to do things like direct I/O port access, is this allowed? 3. Where do I get these programs? I don't normally read these groups (my PC is a Sun-3), so please use EMAIL to reply. If anyone expresses an interest, I'll summarize in about 2 weeks. Adv [thanks] ance -- David S.
