This works fine until the first "not ready" error on any drive. I must then use "int 13" to reset the floppy controller and manually read a few sectors from the drive. Two questions: 1. Why? 2. Anyone got a fix? In answer, "Jay" (sun!housun!nuchat!splut!jay) writes: I asked this question of a friend of mine who works at Compaq's compatibility testing group. He had a question and a comment: 1) What revision level is his ROM BIOS at? He needs to upgrade it to revision J, the current level; it corrected some floppy problems, and maybe his. If that doesn't work, then: 2) Compaq will introduce its version of DOS 3.3 shortly (he gave me the impression it would be a couple of weeks). That should correct all his problems. He indicated this configuration should work; if not, then there's a legitimate problem, and he should report it as one. The ROMs in the problematic system are rev. C; they'll probably get changed. -- Randolph Fritz sun!randolph randolph@sun.com
