In out last episode, you may recall that I was having problems with the feature of Suitcase where it searches for a "Fonts" and a "DAs" folder within the System Folder and makes any font or DA files within the respective folders available to the user at boot-up (as someone mentioned, they are not loaded into memory; as far as I can figure out, they are opened for reading, and read from disk when needed, just like the System File). My problem was that I had about 10 DA files and 20 Font files in the two folders, and only two or three of the font files were being loaded. Finally figured it out -- Suitcase, like any other application, has a maximum number of files it can have opened at any time. I'm not a Mac programmer, but I suspect it's 16 or 32 or some round number like that. Anyway, it couldn't open all my files at a time, so I put all the fonts into one font file, all the DAs into one DA file, and now everything works splendidly. After all the problems I had with Double Apple and Other..., I have to say that Suitcase is incredibly robust. A very impressive application, and definately worth the bucks. "I *LIKE* IT!!"
