Message-ID: <1103@ark.cs.vu.nl> Date: Tue, 1-Sep-87 09:59:32 EDT Article-I.D.: ark.1103 Posted: Tue Sep 1 09:59:32 1987 Date-Received: Sat, 5-Sep-87 04:01:09 EDT Organization: V.U. Informatica, Amsterdam, the Netherlands Lines: 15 A friend of mine uses MicroSoft File to maintain a database of names and addresses for his work at the Dutch National Broadcast Corporation (NOS). This works fine except when there's a change of telephone number at a large company, because then he has to change all tel#'s for each name at that company by hand. What he could use is a global search & replace for MS-File, but he nor I could find such a feat in the manual. A trick would be to convert the database to Ascii text and then import it in a wordprocessor to be changed and converted back into MS-File. But this is bothersome. Does any1 know how to accomplish a global s & r from within MS-File? Is there a DA to do the trick? Any help is welcome!
