Mac SEs still are shipping with HD SC 1.3 on their disks (at least, the Macs that I got 10 days ago had this; I don't know what today's group had in the box). HD SC 1.3 will NOT work on many Mac SE drives. That's why they rushed out HD SC 1.4 to dealers, schools, etc. Get a copy of this update from your favorite update source (it is free) and boot your SE with it; run the application, and choose "Update" to fix the SCSI drive on your disk. End of problem. As I understand it, there are 2 sources for SE disks; HD 1.2 only worked with one after the manufacturer changed production slightly. So (with predictable results) they quickly fixed their program, producing 1.3, leading to.... Bit rot. It's all bit rot. -- Rick Keir -- one floor up from the Oyster Tank -- UWisc - Madison {allegra, ihnp4, seismo}!uwvax!uwmacc!rick Wisconsin: Live Free Or Die -- or Eat Cheese
