The only test performed on it was successful login on each of the eight lines using a VT-220. In addition, I succeeded in completing a Kermit exchange over one of the lines, the week before last. Tonight I can't get at the lines. I've tried cat, the connect option of kermit and a short program that simply does an open on /dev/tty15. In the last case, I know that it goes into the open and does not return. Kermit isn't printing it's little connect message. On the one line that has getty enabled on it (/dev/tty8 == port 0) I can do cat and connect with Kermit, and send characters out (they appear on the 220). The lines (/dev/tty8 ... /dev/tty15) are all mode 622, owned by root. My test runs are performed as root (when attempted as non-root I get EPERM on the open, as expected). The HPSM seems to be working, since I can still login on the getty line, but I can't get at it. The wording for tty(4) seems to imply that my process is simply waiting for a response that never comes from the I/O systmem. Has anyone had this problem? My three regular lines are behaving normally, but of course they don't use the same device and probably don't use the same driver. Thanks in advance for any assistance. -Jim Gonzalez gonzalez@bbn.com BBN Labs, Inc. Cambridge, MA [Did you reload the HPSM software into the HPSM? What version of the HPSM software are you runnings? I think the latest is 3.0. -- sob]
