I've just started seriously playing around with the copy of NR that I
bought from Dr. Dobb's.  I can't seem to be able to get the .HE macro
to do anything.  I tried the example for the default footer as a
parameter for .HE, but still nothing.  This is what I tried:

.HE "|\*(DA| |page %|"
and
.HE "stuff"
and
.HE "|A|B|C|"

but I can't get any of the three to work.  Was ist der deal?

Also, how do I get nr to stop printing (I assume this is what they
are...) the # of pages translated to the screen?  This is real
obnoxious as I'm trying to use nr to implement a DOS version of
the UNIX man command.
