Summary: Search for screen optimization theory

I am looking for information regarding screen optimization.  In general,
I would like to find papers on the subject or a net conversation with
someone who has a good knowledge of the subject.  A search in NCSU's
library has left me blank and no one seems to be current on the
subject.  Furthermore, I am trying to build a screen managment system
and need this information for updating the physical terminal via a
memory image.  If any one has information on this subject I would
appericiate a letter.  Thank you.
