It appeared in 4.2. I have no explanation for what happened to it on SunOS 3.2; it's not there, either the thing itself or the manpage. I checked the one on our Gould PN9080 (UTX 2.0) and it had a 1980 UCB copyright. It's just a shell script, and it works essentially the same way as the one Chris Torek posted -- no secret system calls, just a mkdir and then create a bunch of files and remove them. > New rule before posting a RTFM: Specify which manual!
